About

My name is Alison Westlake

I am a qualified Reflexologist.  I trained at the Devon School of Reflexology, where I qualified with a Level 3 Diploma and Distinction in Reflexology. I am also a member of the Association of Reflexology (AoR).

I have always had an interest in natural health and well-being, particularly in mental health.  After working in HR for many years, I decided to pursue my passion for Reflexology and to help others in taking steps to improve their well-being.

As an insured member of the Association of Reflexologists I abide by a strict Code of Conduct and Professional Practice.  This assures my clients receive high standards and utmost professionalism.

What is Reflexology

The art of Reflexology is an ancient therapy that has been practised for at least 5000 years.  Modern day reflexology began to be developed in the Western world 100 years ago.

Reflexology is a non-invasive therapy that encourages the body to balance and heal itself.  It involves the reflexologist applying finger or thumb pressure on specific points on the feet which correspond with different parts of the body. Reflexologists believe that working these points or areas aids relaxation and helps to improve wellbeing, both emotionally and physically. The feet and hands are mini-maps of the body and by applying pressure to the reflexes, the whole body can be treated.

Reflexologists help to ease congestion in the nerve pathways throughout the body. By using pressure techniques to breakdown the blockages, the nerve pathways can work better, enabling messages to flow more smoothly to the relevant body parts, therefore restoring and balancing the body naturally back to homeostasis.

Benefits

Stress is one of the major contributors to the development of illnesses.  Reflexology reduces stress and aids relaxation.

It is possible that other symptoms of dis-ease within the body can improve too.  Emotional and mental wellbeing may be enhanced as the body is gently encouraged to discard toxins and regain balance and harmony.

A deep state of relaxation

Improved circulation

Better quality sleep

Relief from stress, anxiety and tension

Enhanced immune function

Reduced levels of pain

Improved digestion

Reflexology Treatments

A wonderfully relaxing treatment, using reflex points on the feet (or hands) which correspond to the whole body.  Specific systems can be worked on, for example the digestive system for IBS, the reproductive system for fertility issues, the pineal gland and stress reflexes for sleep problems...the list is endless.

This treatment works on the idea of healing the body as a whole, so as to help it work efficiently in all areas in order to fight disease and to enable the body to work at its optimal levels.

An initial consultation about health and lifestyle will be taken at the first Reflexology treatment including a full medical history. This is all about your health and lifestyle. You will be asked to sign a consent form agreeing to the treatment.  All information will be kept confidentially in accordance with GDPR.
